In 2023, OGN performed for the fourth time on ‘Sail Across the Sun 2023’, Train’s destination music festival at sea, joining Train, Fitz and The Tantrums, G. Love, Travie McCoy, and more. In May 2023, OGN released “Don’t Wanna Give Up” featuring Shwayze, achieving over 100k streams in its first two weeks, and was added to Spotify-curated playlist Beach Vibes. The band performed on the national Spring Fling Tour with Shwayze. OGN has also shared the stage and supported acts such as Michael Franti & Spearhead, Twiddle, Allen Stone, Blues Traveler, and Dirty Heads.
The band was selected by Sierra Nevada as a featured artist for its ‘Doing Big Things’ promotion, partnering with RoofAbove Charity to raise donations through live-stream performances to help those in need in the band’s hometown of Charlotte NC.
Based out of Jacksonville, FL, The Hulagans are a band who exemplify every part of the coastal southeast’s distinct culture – both in their music and their daily lives.
Founded by cousins Will “Big Red” Gerrard (bass) and James “Juicy” Collins (guitar), Lavi Schrenger (drums), and Dillon May (guitar). The vision was simple – a fusion of reggae and blues to create a unique regional sound paying homage to musical genres that shaped them. They quickly added lyricist and singer Cody “Preesh” McGuire on vocals. With this lineup, the band began to make a name for themselves around North Florida.
In the summer of 2019, tragedy struck. A mass exodus occurred as both Lavi (drums) and Dillon (guitar) left the band for other pursuits. However, sometimes the night is darkest before the dawn. Enter multi-instrumentalist, lyricist and heartthrob, Mitch Hula. Self proclaimed as the songbird of his generation, his humorous whimsical stories cover topics like trials and tribulations of his youth. Thus, serving as both a contrast and a compliment to Cody’s introspective and soulful approach to songwriting.
After Mitch joined, the band began to take its current form. Cody moved to drums, still keeping vocal duties, and Mitch moved to guitar and vocals. Que Rob “Bobby Silver” Montgomery, saxophone extraordinaire. Shortly before the release of the band’s debut single, “You Keep Me”, Rob joined The Hulagans, bringing his smooth jazzy styling to the mix.
The final product – Swamp Roots Reggae; reggae rock based tunes with a southern bluesy flavor, straight from the swampland.
