Heartwood Presents: Ulisses Rocha with special guest Erik Abernathy

$10 – $20Considered one of Brazil’s finest guitarist/composers in the past twenty years, Ulisses Rocha has achieved international acclaim with his performances in festivals in United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Russia, Cuba, Syria, Kuwait, Zimbabwe, Paraguay, France, Lithuania, Croatia, Japan, Netherlands, and Belgium.
Owner of a unique style, Ulisses mix Brazilian, classical and jazz influences, which makes him able to play a wide range of styles. Aside his solo career, he has collaborated with renowned Brazilian artists such as Gal Costa and Cesar Camargo Mariano and recorded with Hermeto Pascoal. He has also shared stage in special performances with , Al Di Meola, Eliane Elias, Egberto Gismonti, Yamandú Costa, Marco Pereira, Toquinho, Paulo Belinatti, Fabio Zanon, Brazil Guitar Duo, among others. A prolific performer, Ulisses Rocha has recorded 14 CD’s, 3 video classes and a published a book including 10 guitar etudes. In addition to his own compositions, he has also recorded as special guest in numerous collections and works by other artists.
Mr. Rocha was a visiting professor at the University of Florida between 2012 and 2017, where performed and recorded as a soloist, but also collaborated with some colleagues, performing and writing arrangements for guitar ensembles, and Brazilian music groups.
Mr. Rocha teaches at the Unicamp (University of Campinas, the top 1 in Brazil) since 1990 and in (2012-2013) was a Bacardi Scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida.
