Heartwood is delighted to welcome at last the fabulous Gatorbone Band, who stole the show at the Mirror Image 40th Anniversary Concert last June. We can’t decide what we love best about this band—their stellar songwriting, their impeccable timing, their pitch-perfect, heart-wrenching vocals, or their world-class instrumental virtuosity. Lis Williamson has one of the finest voices we’ve ever recorded, plays guitar and banjo with rock solid rhythm, and writes songs that reach into your heart and soul and won’t let you go. Her husband Lon is an equally gifted writer, a marvelous singer, and a consummate bass player. Gabe Valla, who was born to musical parents and grew up in a recording studio, is a flat-picking guitar and mandolin playing champion with a sweet voice and a gift for tastier licks than a Dairy Queen convention. For this show the band adds fiddler extraordinaire Jason Thomas, formerly with the Claire Lynch band.
This concert marks the release of their new CD, Live at the Limelight. Why this band isn’t more famous is a mystery. If you haven’t heard them, do yourself a favor. They ARE that good!
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Listening Room opens at 7:30 p.m. Show starts at 8:00 p.m.
