For over four decades, Bob McPeek has been an icon of the Gainesville music community, as a musician (Hyde and Zeke, Cecily Jane, TranceForm, Antidote, The Relics, The Erasables and more…), music business owner (Hyde and Zeke Records, Mirror Image Studios, Heartwood Soundstage), playwright (the musical Really Leary), and recording engineer and producer (Sister Hazel, Bo Diddley, Less Than Jake, Aleka’s Attic, and literally thousands more). During the pandemic, Bob has devoted his efforts to producing the best work of his lifetime, a solo album entitled Mixing Metaphors.
Armed with the skills acquired in countless hours of studio time, Bob took almost three years to craft, arrange, record, and produce 16 songs, including the songs On the Other Side (recorded with 25 Gainesville-rooted musicians) and Ways of War (recorded for the Veterans for Peace organization). Forty-three different musicians, dating back to connections from 1970, contributed tracks, in addition to Bob’s detailed guitar work and rich harmony vocals.
He will be joined in concert by Fagan Arouh (guitar and vocals), Fay Baird (banjo and vocals), Hyde and Zeke cofounder Ric Kaestner (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Andrew Cook (violin, vocals) and the incomparable Rob Rothschild (percussion).
Seating is limited to safe social distancing and masks and vaccinations are requested, for a risk-free celebration of our wonderful community and the unifying power of music.
