Richard Smith is an amazingly phenomenal acoustic guitarist. Mentored by the legendary Chet Atkins, he appeared in his first concert performance with Chet at age eleven on the stage of Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.
Richard won the prestigious National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship (2001) and Thumbpicker of the Year (2008) awards, and in 2009 was inducted into the Thumbpicker’s Hall of Fame.
Richard’s repertoire and entertaining shows can consist of anything frrom originals, fingerpicking tunes, Joplin Rags, Classics from Bach, Chopin, Sor and Barrios, fiddle tunes, Beatles, Pop, John Philip Sousa, jazz/swing standards, blues and more. Richard tours extensively across the U.S. and internationally.
A 2018 video of Richard performing “The Entertainer” went viral on YouTube, having almost 10 million views.
