Folk, Friends & Food at Heartwood!

Thirsty Ear Concerts and CPW Productions present Paul Brown & Friends (6:00 p.m.) and Cicada Rhythm (7:45 p.m.) at Heartwood Soundstage!

Paul Brown, Terri McMurray, Trevor McKenzie, and Beverly Smith will be performing a combination of band, solo and duo songs and tunes, from old time through early bluegrass to some originals. The husband-and-wife team of Paul and Terri bring you a fun, engaging show packed with traditional songs, instrumentals, and good-humored mostly-true stories. Beverly Smith is one of the most respected guitar players in old time music today, and she is also in demand as a singer, fiddler and dance caller. Trevor McKenzie is a multi-instrumentalist and singer originally from southwest Virginia. The progeny of cattle farmers, he first gravitated to old-time music through an early interest in regional history and a keen desire to avoid doing manual labor.

Cicada Rhythm is a pair of talented musicians raised in Georgia. They imitate and modernize folk music to a rejuvenating degree. The sound of Andrea DeMarcus and Dave Kirslis exhibits skilled and articulate guitar picking honed in the dive bars of Atlanta over rolling Julliard-trained bass lines. Expect chilling harmonies, unbridled enthusiasm, some wholesome tunes and a sincere performance.
