Charlie Hunter and his Trio are coming to Heartwood Soundstage with special guest Taylor Roberts on Feb 7th. Doors open at 7 p.m. music starts at 8 p.m.
Charlie Hunter (born May 23, 1967) is an American guitarist, composer, and bandleader. Influenced by greats like Joe Pass and Tuck Andress, Charlie first drew wide attention in the early 1990s. His discography includes his exceptional solo and ensemble work, plus guest performances for the likes of John Mayer, D’Angelo, and Norah Jones.
Charlie plays custom-made seven- and eight-string guitars on which he simultaneously plays bass lines, chords, and melodies. Critic Sean Westergaard described Hunter’s technique as “mind-boggling…he’s an agile improviser with an ear for great tone, and always has excellent players alongside him in order to make great music, not to show off.”
We are fortunate to have this virtuoso at Heartwood, joined by the great drummer Jay Lane and sublime saxophonist Dave Ellis, with our own local guitar wizard Taylor Roberts opening.
Not to be missed!
